90 days sober - recovery rocks!

I haven`t updated the blog or my art sites for a while and there is a reason. I have been going through intensive outpatient treatment for almost a year now. It started in January 2011 and I was in serious denial about my alcohol addiction. No matter how hard I tried I could never stay sober more than a maximum of 11 days and I have tried so hard and have been close to giving up everything all together many times. I feel that I have been going through the hardest battle I have ever fought. This summer I called my therapist and told her that if I don`t get help immediately I will drink myself to death. I am sorry if this comes as a big surprise and shock to those who know me and think I have been fine for a long time. Get real...addicts lie. After I got into the best treatment program available here in my home town, I finally decided to put the bottle down for good or I would have no life at all. I went through a horrible at home detox and I seriously feared that I would go into a seizure or a withdrawal psychosis. Thanks to the Lord Jesus and the treatment team I have been able to stay sober and today I have been sober for 90 days!!!!! Praise God who has been watching over me. I am so thankful to the drug clinic, all the wonderful staff who have taken my issues seriously and to Jesus for getting me to the place I am now - free from this demon that has haunted me for way too long. It is time to say goodbye. I will not go into this much further. I feel healthier and happier than ever before and I can`t wait to have a sober Christmas! Last year was so sad....My heart goes out to all the addicts and their families who are suffering during this time. Remember, as long as there is breath in your body there is hope. I thought I was washed up and burned out. Now I can`t wait to see what the future holds for me! Today I have done some Christmas gifts shopping. I haven`t been able to paint as much as before because of my studies, but I will bring gifts. And the greatest gift I can give to those who love me is my sobriety. 90 days. And still counting. And as time goes by and my relationship with the Lord strenghtens once again I pray that all the bad memories and hurt and tears will one by one be gone - be gone - be gone - be gone...in Jesus name! I have been through so much with meds and side-effects for over 10 years now and I am so sick and tired of people being so obsessed with the way they look. I know probably only one thing for sure. I am good at moving on. And now I`m at it again. From tomorrow on, the university will be my new home. I am starting my studies in religion and science and I am excited, but nervous too. I will show up and then let`s see what happens! The future looks bright...!

God hates Norway!

Westboro Baptist Church of Topeka, Kansas, have been bombarding twitter with messages saying God sent the shooter (Anders Behring Breivik) because of our sins, especially allowing gays ("fags") to be married in Norway. I was looking into the site http://www.godhatesnorway.com/ and it turns into http://www.godhatesfredphelps.com/. Well I have been doing some research into this church and they picket funerals of dead soldiers, mosques, catholic churches, jews, Lady Gaga and Marilyn Manson, anything having to do with someone supporting the "fag agenda" , adultery, fornication, idolatry, divorce and remarriage. They claim Liz Taylor, Amy Whitehouse, Farrah Fawcett, Ryan Dunn, Heath Ledger, Betty Ford and basically everyone who is not in their church who has died, is in hell.
Documentary film maker Steve Drain (his daughter Lauren Drain has left the church and claims it is a cult) who joined the church had this to say on twitter:

As you have probably heard, my people has been hit by terror and massacre. I remember being in my mom`s house, talking about my new study plans and then we get a text message from a neighbour to turn on the news channel. A bomb had exploded in Oslo, and while talking to my uncle who lives in Oslo and being happy that he was safe, we hear about the shootings on Utøya. The rest of the weekend was unreal. And still is. Today there is a minute of silence 10 minutes from now. I will be in prayer for the victims and their families.

Today I called Svein Magne Pedersen at http://www.mjl.no/ to ask him to pray for freedom from my addictions and my mental illness. Feeling a bit dizzy and tired, I must go to bed and rest for a bit. Last year I called as well and felt like electricity was going through my body and lost the phone to the floor as he prayed for me and my cat. My cat was instantly healed!!! And still going strong today. For me, it has been a journey. I am getting better. I was healed from obsession and compulsive thoughts, intrusive thoughts and negative thoughts. Now I am a bit overwhelmed and need to get to bed. I will get back with an update. I am excited!!! I believe strongly in Jesus Christ and I believe that I will be set free from my suffering despite what I have been told by so called professionals. I believe! And maybe in a week, a month or a year from now I will come back with a testimony. I so badly want to. I believe in this. Maybe then I can say it out loud. I MADE IT!

So I guess we will just have to keep on waiting and not going crazy with excitement, I know so many people, including me, have been waiting for this fight for so long! David Haye talked his way into the fight - will he achieve his goal and unify the belts and teach the "rigid, boring robot" a thing or two? Or will this be a BIG TIME intervention for Haye and shut his big mouth up and kick him out of the division? Now we will have to wait and see...but not for much longer!

Touch Turns To Gold

So I admit I haven`t been keeping up with the art work because I have been busy with my web design studies this semester. But now that it`s finished (and with a result that I am happy with!!) I will go back to my art works. I recently did this piece called "Touch Turns To Gold" that I hope you will like. I am experimenting with different styles at the moment. Being that I am self-taught, I feel like I can do whatever I want to do. My old style was a bit different I will admit and you can possibly tell from my website http://www.elizabethdallee.net/ as well. I was heavily sedated on Seroquel (bipolar med) and I would wake up around 15 and then turn to my artistic work and would stay up most of the night smoking heavily while painting very detail-oriented and maybe go to sleep at about 5 in the night. A very unhealthy lifestyle! Now that I am on non-sedative meds I paint during the day and get up early in the morning and go to sleep at about 23, and with the help of God I quit smoking over a year ago! Now I finally understand what they have been talking about all the time! You can turn your life around! It is worth the try folks! If you keep on living that bipolar lifestyle with out of control spending, unhealthy sleeping habits and self-medication with drugs and alcohol you will end up getting nothing done (that really matters). Go to your therapist, demand meds change and get off the sedating stuff and get the experience of having an entire day to do things! My experience is that Zeldox and Risperdal (in low doses) are non-sedating while Zyprexa, Seroquel and Seroquel depot are very sedating. Anyways, this was my rant for the day. I have been up since 7 (amazing!) and will now go back to my art work! Love you all!

Getting better

I am slowly getting better from the infections I have been having the last weeks. Can`t wait to start painting and going out again. It`s difficult to get anything done when you have no energy. I am lucky to have my wonderful cat Sussebass to look after me. Being alone is the hardest thing.....But we are getting back into shape now!

NAILS IN THE FENCE

Seroquel withdrawal, starting Zeldox

I cannot describe the hell I have been through on Seroquel depot, which was supposed to be a help to me in 2011. I have experienced mega-sleep, hangover and sedation to the full, and decided that I had had enough of this drug - which medicated half my day away. I would wake up at 13 if I was lucky, I couldn`t live like this! So I complained to my therapist, who put me on Zeldox for my bipolar disorder and Buspar for my anxiety. After quitting Seroquel I went into the most awful withdrawal ever. It took me weeks to recover back to my normal self. I am so glad this drug is out of my system now. I really hope and pray that Zeldox is the drug that will help me. To be continued.....

He's not prejudiced or partial, not judging, grudging, sassy, or brassy, not deaf to our cry, not blind to our need.
As much as we try, God's gifts are free.
We could do wonderful things for wonderful people and still not be . . . Wonderful.
Satan says, "You're not worthy." Jesus says, "So what? . . . I AM."
Satan looks back and sees our mistakes.
God looks back and sees the cross.
He doesn't calculate what you did in '98.
It's not even on the record.
Sure. There are lots of reasons why God shouldn't have called us.
But if we are magically in love with Him, if we hunger for Him more than our next breath,
He'll use us in spite of who we are, where we've been, or what we look like.
Pray that as Christians, we will step out of our limitations into the illimitable nature of who God is.
Then our passion for God and our passion to communicate with Him will make mincemeat of our limitations

Still battling my disorder in 2011 with a new tool - could this be the key to a better life?

As some of you may know, I have a mental illness called bipolar disorder. I can`t even count or remember the names of the many meds I have tried to become "normal," but it`s quite a few. Now in 2011 I am trying a new one - Seroquel Depot! I am so excited to be on only 200 mg. I have been on Seroquel before, as high as 500 mg, but had to quit because of the hangover and sedation and other side effects too. Now we are going to try the Depot version, and I am the first patient in the clinic I go to that tries out this medication! Could this be what I have been searching for all these years - a key to a better life?

So my dear cat Sussebass is, as well as myself, getting older, but so what? We are still going strong in 2011. My cat was homeless when I took him into my care many years ago, so I have no idea how old he really is, but the vets say he is probably around 10. We have had so many fun years together, my friend and I, and we are so blessed! Happy New Year from us!

Ending one career - and starting another!

Well 2011 is here and it gives me all kinds of feelings. But one thing is for sure - I need to make some changes and I will. 2010 has been a year with many positive, and unfortunately also some negative experiences.
I have been a nurse for 10 years and even though I love working with people and helping them, many times I have felt unhappy with my work. Many times I have said to myself that there are so many other things I would love to do with my life. I have tried specializing and taking jobs different places but still have felt that something was missing. Maybe I can no longer deal with seing so much suffering and disease. In my private life I have also had health problems in 2010. Some times I have banged my head against the wall and asked why this is happening with me. Then I have also been continuing my spiritual journey that started when I was saved in 2008. God is so amazing and has lifted me out of suffering in ways that I never even thought was possible. The thing I am most grateful for is that I have been lifted out of panic disorder! After struggling with the daily torture of panic attacks for 3 years that I many times thought would kill me and that I never even knew a human body could go through, I am now panic free. How many times did I think of giving up, but I cried out to God and saw countless healers and had too many people praying for me so God finally smashed the entire disorder - and not only that, lifted me out of smoking as well. After a decade of smoking, my body is now getting better and working out is so much easier now that I have gotten the cigarettes off me. I am so thankful to God.
Being an artist I have started many websites and I have had much fun with web design. So much so that when a college in my home town has started up studies in web design, I decided to send in an application. And guess what? I have been accepted into the studies! So on January 11th, my new life as a student begins. I will no longer be working as a nurse, I will be a student. I am so full of hope and enthousiasm for this decision, as well as nervousness of course. But I know I can do this. Now that I am no longer tormented by panic and anxiety I can do anything. So who knows? Maybe I will get a job as a professional web designer? Maybe I will change my mind in a few years and go back to nursing? I have experienced in 2010 that anything is indeed possible.
Other than informing about my going back to college, I want to let my friends know that there is hope if you have anxiety, panic, depression and other mental illness. Maybe religion is not for you, but don`t give up on treatment. Write me at elisadallee@yahoo.com if you are struggling, I have definitely been there and tried it all. Now every day I wake up and don`t have to worry about anxiety attacks and I just want to scream out loud "I did it, I made it, I made it!"

Unfortunately Astrid Sjursen was not able to be with us at the exhibition at Loddefjord Church, but we are 5 artists working together to make it a special experience and make the best out of it. One of the artists, Johanne Fjæreide, has paintings and even a book that she has written for sale. Her website is www.nyenergiartist.no Berit Christiansen has had four exhibitions before and has paintings, porcelain, Christmas cards and other nice things for sale and Anita Natland has paintings. She has exhibited before too.

Tomorrow we are expecting more people after the church service, so we hope to sell some more things. Hope to see you there!!

I just had an exhibition at Galleri Skjold, and time has come for another adventure in Elisaland. Another exhibition, friends!! Wellbutrin no more

An update of another kind: a while ago I wrote that I was starting treatment with Wellbutrin for my depression. As you may know, I have bipolar disorder and have my ups and downs. I while back I felt myself being caught in a depressive state, which of course affected my creativity also. I simply couldn`t do anything. Someone wanted to know how I was doing as far as that is concerned. I am glad to report that I am off the Wellbutrin and the depression has lifted. I am feeling a lot better. I think the Wellbutrin was a good help and I didn`t have many side effects. Please get help if you feel symptoms of depression, you don`t have to suffer alone with it, there is hope!
